An Update.

Well the engine is back on its mounts in the car, I've changed the timing belt, tensioner, idle pulley, clutch, release arm, release bearing, and cover, and cleaned it all up so its back ready to go in. I'm pretty rubbish at taking pictures, generally because I get far to involved in the mechanical side of things to remember! Still here's a few....

So no pictures of the bloody engine back in! I also changed the clutch release arm for a new part from Volvo. Its interesting because around 1993, Volvo changed the pedal and release mechanism, the pedal and release arm changed, to make the clutch mechanism slightly lighter. I'd already swapped the pedal over, after the old one bent (during the clutch failure), there was no way in hell I was swapping the pedal again, I'd had enough of lying on my back in the drivers footwell. So the alternative was to swap the release arm over, for a slightly longer part. Having mismatched parts could have led to over stretching the clutch components.

So the engine is back in, sitting and bolted up on its mounts, but needs reconnecting which is a spaghetti mess of sensor wires, and cooling pipes. I've also swapped the plugs to BPR8ES's which are a grade colder than suggested, this should help with the richmod.

My other 480 (Glen) has been treated to some Osram Nightbreakers to improve nighttime light, and they produce a much whiter illumination. Verdict is, they are good, but pictures don't do them justice. I picked up a cheap pair (£6) but they retail on the 'bay for about £11. Well worth it though :D
