If my last entry has a positive tone, this one certainly does not. I've never really noticed it until now, but my cooling fan for my radiator hasnt been coming on at all. With the cold weather and fairly short, and traffic free drive it hasn't been an issue.
However, I decided it would be best to as they say in scouting, 'be prepared' and get it resolved. I located on the radiator the old switch, and bridged across it, woooosh the fan came to life and confirmed the switch as being defunct.
Quick call to Volvo confirms a ridiculous £44 for a new one, so I head on over to partsforvolvos.com and see what they offer, quick phone call to them (they list about 20 for volvo 400 series) they confirmed they had one for £13delivered.
However when it arrived, it was fairly obvious that the pins were different, and it just wasnt going to fit, no need to even venture out to the car and get my hands dirty, it just aint gonna work. Quick phone call to PFV and Volvo again confirmed a different volvo part no. PFV didnt have a suitable part and the story ends hear, a little annoyed.
Im not on the hunt for a thermoelectic switch before I get stuck in traffic, and well overheat. I could just put a switch in the dashboard and do it that way, but Id just forget to turn it on or turn it off so let the scapyards raid begin!
