Long Time, No Post....

It has indeed been a long time since my last post, and the car is still up and running..... Currently sitting on a nice 117712Miles, a little higher than it was last time. It's still however managing the commute ok, and for now its still efficient enough when I'm not running at Warp 10.

I've been investigating a few issues today, that are MOT issues (due in 13days), to try and solve them before the MOT. One of which is the Horn not working. Its a little known fact (unless you've owned a 480) that Volvo used the 480 as an experiment through which it placed a lot of the electronics in the control of a fancy computer, known as the CEM (If you can't work it out, its Central Electonics Module). Of which my car is running version 3. Im not going to list all the functions it provides now, but it means the horn push button, doesn't just go to a relay and then to the horn, it instead travels via this CEM which in turn does all the fancy (read connects) work.

Anyway on eventually finding the thing, opening her up, locating wires etc etc I discovered what I believe is the cause of the issues, white gunk round a capacitor, which I assume is the innerds of the capacitor, but now outside.



So Im currently tring to get a new CEM V3 to get things working again :D

Aside from that I gave Glen some fresh oil, and a new genuine Volvo Oil Filter, I even bought a new sump washer, boy was I feeling flush with the cash!
